WIG Week : Sausage Making Demo

You know how “they” say you should never see how sausage is made? Don’t believe “them”!

Just in time for Whidbey Island Grown Week, Slow Food Whidbey Island is having a cooking event to celebrate Oktoberfest, too. The event will be held at Deer Lagoon Grange Hall in Langley.

George Petrich will demonstrate how to make Beer Brats sausages from A to Z. He will grind pork from 3 Sisters Family Farm in Coupeville, measuring the seasonings, mixing it all together, stuffing it into casings and finally, cooking it up to eat. He will provide tasting samples and recipes so you can make this at home.

George attended Seattle Culinary Academy and worked at the fabulous Herbfarm in Woodinville, followed by a job with Link Lab Artisan Meats in Seattle where he learned the skills of sausage making.

Following the demo, there will be a community gathering where each attendee contributes a homemade dish to share. Beer and cider will be available for purchase. So put on your aprons and start cooking for this little twist on potluck.
