Film Screening: Nourishing Soil, People, and Community with Q&A

  • Whidbey Island Center for the Arts 565 Camano Avenue Langley, WA, 98260 United States (map)

Join the Organic Farm School at WICA to view their film Nourishing Soil, People, and Community. After the screening, OFS will speak more about the process of regenerative agriculture and answer questions.

At the end of the evening, attendees are encouraged to gather in Zech Hall for small bites and no-host bar.
Regenerative Ag is often framed as a suite of soil development practices — but those practices vary greatly over time and space and culture, inherently calling for an examination of connection and community across species and biomes. How we tend body, mind, and spirit informs how we care for and benefit from our soil. Simultaneously, as we strengthen the health and diversity of soil community, we can find our human communities thriving as well. These films celebrate the work of the Organic Farm School, an African American community in Cleveland, and a Navajo farmer in New Mexico….each calling attention to how healing the soil can heal us.

Thriving Communities is a national organization that uses films to catalyze community action. Through the dynamic fusion of storytelling, community engagement, and transformative gatherings, we are dedicated to inspiring action and nurturing solutions for both current challenges and those that lie ahead.
