Eat Local Month 2023

Thank you for your interest in participating in Eat Local Month! We are here to promote your event, activity, and/or business, provide a landing space for locals and tourists to find activities, and connect businesses who would like to collaborate. Please fill out our sign up sheet to share your event and get promotional materials.

Event and Activity Suggestions

1.      PROMOTE - An easy and effective way to participate is to share Eat Local Month with your audience. Let them know where they can go to find events and activities, let them know why it’s important to learn about and support the local food system, and also share how your business participates in the local food system. Our sign-up page below includes a place for your contact info so we can send you a digital media package and reminder to help us promote in September. #eatlocalwhidbey

2.      FEED - If you already grow, cook, or sell local food, let us add your business to our list of eat-local-whidbey places to visit. If you’re not in the food business, you can serve local food for your next meeting or event, or create an event to showcase local food and farms to your audience.

3.      EDUCATE - We can provide a presentation on the importance of the local food system to your club or organization. You can create a workshop or class to teach a skill like fermenting, canning, pasta-making, etc. Put on a forum or meet-and-greet to let your audience meet their local farmers or chefs.

4.      COLLABORATE - Bring your cooking, networking, or gardening skills together with a farmer, chef, or business to create a partner event. For example, last year we had a personal chef do an Instagram Live cooking class on a local farm using that farm’s produce. We can help connect you with others who are interested in collaborating, just let us know what you need.

5.      EAT LOCAL - No matter what our jobs or pursuits, we all eat, and we can all go out to the farmer’s markets, visit farm stands, order on the Food Hub, go out to dinner at a farm to table restaurant, or shop at a market selling locally made products.

Food Hub Vendors, Co-op Members, and Wholesale Food Hub Customers: we will automatically include your businesses in our promotions. Please let us know if:

  1. You plan an event or activity

  2. Have a special menu item or promotion for Eat Local Month

  3. Have a Fall/Winter CSA

  4. Will have a special at your farm stand
