John Fetrow is a retired Professor of Veterinary Medicine who left the U of Minnesota 7 years ago and moved to Whidbey. He specialized in large animal medicine, mostly focused on dairy cattle medicine, production, nutrition, and economics. His career took him to 6 of the 7 continents (you can guess which one he skipped…). If you want to run your dairy farm better or your cow is sick, John might be a useful person to talk to.

Currently, he works part time as a consultant to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He works with people who are trying to improve the health and sustainable productivity of smallholder farmers’ animals, paticularly in sub-Saharan Africa, trying to improve the lives of their animals, their incomes, and their family’s welfare and nutrition.
